Beloved Star Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA on Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, according to media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a statement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, like:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.

The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
