Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
