The former Liverpool manager states rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead another team on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, so I could make the decision in a few years, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or constant media duties weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, is pleasant. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits at the club. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last term. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Impossible.”
