The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Critical Role Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening looks amazing. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening seems to be among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to get to know the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
