This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
